Wildlife/Bird Viewing Station - Grand Opening / Ribbon Cutting Celebration!

Grand Opening for Wildlife Viewing Station_page_001.jpg
The Highland Lakes Master Naturalists have built this, the second, of their Wildlife /Bird Viewing stations in the area.  The first one is located at Inks Lake and has quickly become a favorite place for bird watching.

This viewing station was built by the Master Naturalists on the City Complex campus at 2221 N. Phillips Ranch Road.   This new viewing station overlooks a small pond.  There is a variety of wildlife to see, due to the proximity of the water.

The areas of the Municipal Complex which have park features are known as 'Quarry Park' - Park #20.  Quarry Park already has a Tennis Complex (resulting from a partnership with the Roddick Youth Tennis Foundation), the Leo Manzano 'Hike, Bike and Run Trail' and a special wildflower garden which was planted to be a Butterfly Waystation.

On April 30th Quarry Park will add this Wildlife Viewing Station.  Within the next few months, because of a large grant we are being awarded from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, we will add sports fields, several covered sports courts, batting cages and additional gardens.

The Grand Opening on April 30th will start at 3 PM.  Please arrive a little bit early for best parking.  Please follow the signs.  The Viewing Station is just off the Manzano Trail; not far from mile marker 1.75.

We will have lemonade and hear remarks from Freddi Franki of the Master Naturalists, Project Head for this viewing station.  Please join us and welcome this newest addition to our Parks.  The City of Granite Shoals is the City of Parks!
