City of Granite Shoals - Boards, Commissions and Committees

The City of Granite Shoals relies on the energy of its community-oriented citizens.

Without the help of committed citizens; the City would not function. Each Board, Committee and Commission plays a significant role to keep Granite Shoals vital, responsive and responsible. The citizens who serve on these various boards volunteer their time to improve the quality of life for everyone in Granite Shoals. Some of the City of Granite Shoals Boards & Commissions are:

  • Wildlife Committee  **
  • Board of Adjustments   
  • Parks Committee **    
  • Planning & Zoning Commission **
  • Streets and Water Advisory Group (SWAG) **   
  • Beautification Advisory Group (BAG)   **  
  • Sewer Committee (dissolved June 2014) 
  • Airport Advisory Committee (recently re-established by Ord. 686) **  
  • City Charter Review Commission (not active now, this is an ad hoc commission which is only established as needed)

Planning and Zoning
The Planning and Zoning Commission meets once a month on the third Tuesday evening from 6 PM to 8 PM, customarily.   

Currently the Planning and Zoning Commission is reviewing the entire Zoning Ordinance and considering proposed updates.    

If you wish to attend a P&Z meeting or if you have questions about zoning, call the Code Compliance Department or the City Secretary's Office.  830-598-2424.  

The Planning and Zoning Commission meets USUALLY on the third Tuesday of each month.  
If you wish to bring an item to Planning and Zoning, such as a re-plat, you must have the application completed and submitted to Code Compliance with the required number of re-plat maps on the second MONDAY of the month.  This allows time for Code Compliance to review the re-plat application and allows time for the Utility Department to review service lines and easements.  The P&Z Agendas are normally posted on the second Friday of the month.
