The goal of the Code Enforcement department is to improve quality of life for our citizens in Granite Shoals by addressing property maintenance and nuisance issues. 

If you have a complaint or question concerning a city code violation, please call the Code Enforcement Office at City Hall or the Code Enforcement Officers directly at:

Common Code Violations

There is a progressive ladder of compliance that ranges from verbal warnings to written citations. The following is a list of examples for code violations:

  • Construction without a permit
  • Dilapidated Structures
  • High weeds and grass
  • Illegal dumping
  • Illegal signs
  • Junk and accumulated rubbish
  • Junk vehicles
  • Running a business from home
  • Stagnant water

If You Receive a Letter from Code Compliance

Please respond by calling the Code Officer who signed your letter.

On behalf of the city, Kirk and Preston (Code Enforcement Officers) would like to thank each of you that have taken a proactive approach to making Granite Shoals a prettier, healthier and safer place to live. We have a way to go, however with each of us doing our part and maybe even helping a neighbor, the Clean Up Granite Shoals movement can be achieved sooner than one may think. You will more than likely see Preston and/or Kirk in the field going street by street/property by property taking pictures and documenting city code violations. This documentation will then be compiled into formal letter and sent to the property owner as notice of the violation(s). These are the most common code violations that Kirk & Preston are observing: No address numbers, open storage, trash & debris, junked vehicles, unlawful RV use, tall grass & weeds, vacant & dangerous structures, contractor yards and fence issues. If you were to receive such a violation letter from the city, please contact the enforcement officer listed in the letter (Kirk or Preston) with in the 10-days noted in the letter to discuss a compliance plan. If you fail to do so the case file will be forwarded to the court for further action. Thanks again for all you have done.
